Proper Care Cornwall provides professional, experienced and compassionate private home care and community care for adults across South-West Cornwall.

We support people to remain living safely and independently in their own homes, providing care that is built around the individual, their circumstances and the things that matter most to them.

From a little extra help around the home to more regular or complex care packages, our experienced team provides reliable, consistent support designed to give both our clients and their families peace of mind.

Everyone’s needs are different, and those needs can change over time. Our role is to understand what support is needed and provide it in a way that works for the individual.

Our services include personal care, medication support, companionship, welfare visits, shopping and meal preparation, domestic support, mobility and disability support, post-operative care, support following illness or hospital discharge, and ongoing care for people with more complex needs.

We can provide occasional visits, regular daily support or multiple visits throughout the day, depending on your circumstances.

We also work closely with families and other professionals involved in a person’s care, helping to ensure that support at home is safe, appropriate and consistent.

Based in Helston, Proper Care Cornwall provides care throughout South-West Cornwall, including Helston, Porthleven, St Keverne, The Lizard and surrounding villages and communities.

We are an established local care provider with more than 20 years of experience. Being local matters to us. It means we understand the communities we work in and, for families who may live further away, it provides reassurance that their loved one is being supported by a care company based close to home.

We are proud of the relationships we build with the people we support. Good care is not simply about completing a list of tasks — it is about getting to know the individual, respecting their choices and providing support that helps them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life.

Proper Care Cornwall is regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care services in England.

Our most recent CQC inspection took place in 2023, when our service was rated Good overall.

Support when circumstances change

There are many reasons someone may begin to need support at home. It might follow an illness, an operation, a hospital stay or a change in mobility. It may be that everyday tasks have gradually become more difficult, or that family members need some additional support.

Whatever the circumstances, we can talk through what is needed and help you understand what support may be appropriate.

We offer free assessments and can often arrange care quickly where there is an urgent need.
